About Us

Why did we go Barefoot and what's in it for you?

After years of doing traditional "deep tissue" massage, we learned there is a better way. We have always served the active community of all shapes & sizes. We kept getting asked for deeper pressure and quicker recovery.

Think about how uncomfortable it is to have an elbow dug into your glutes, hammies or back. Now imagine trying do a training run, a lift, or a round of golf the next day, not only sore from your injury but the irritation a jabby elbow just caused your strained muscles. The human body can only take so much discomfort.

No pain, No gain? Pshhh. No way!

Doing Barefoot massage, lets us use gravity AND the soft, wide soles of our bare feet giving you the most comfortably deep massage you can imagine.  We can give as much or as little pressure by simply changing our posture with no pokey elbows or knuckles, which makes our job much easier, no matter what your size.

Toledo's Deepest

What does that even mean?

In the pressure sense, it means, we have the ability, to go as deep as YOU like to feel.  Every massage for every body is different.  What is deep pressure for you may not phase the next person and vice versa.  We adapt and work very slow to find the pressure that best suites the needs of your muscles, fascia, and tolerance - like peeling away layers of an onion. We customize each session to our clients needs.  A deep tissue massage cannot be therapeutic if the pressure is too much or not enough for you.  We always welcome and ask for feedback in each session.

Doing true deep tissue massage and myofascial release means we have to do a lot of deep listening to do as well.

We listen to what your activities are, stress levels, and what your work and home life is like to better understand YOU. That can mean anything from how your desk is set up at work to how you may carry your child or if you're trying to PR for something.  Deep pressure can only get you so far. Figuring out what got your there is the other half of the puzzle we try to navigate.  This can mean old injuries or new.

And then, there are those times where deep means Deep rest and recovery.

We often have clients who come in with no known ailments and are just there to relax and even fall asleep!

We frequently have clients tell us "if you didn't know these were feet, you really wouldn't know".

It's astonishing and how deeply relaxing, these long, broad strokes can feel. Much better than the short quick strokes of a traditional hands on massage. Just because we can achieve the deepest of pressure, that doesn't mean we always have to.

HOW WE WORK

What Are The Different Modalities?

Ashiatsu Massage

Ashiatsu massage is done with our bare feet while holding on to overhead bars for balance.  We are never hanging from the bars. Our Ashiatsu style includes us leaning against a patented "ashiatsu strap" for increased leverage from side to side giving us the best angles to work from.  This work has varying levels depending on the practitioners experience and education.

Sarga Bodywork

Sarga is done with bare feet. In this style of bodywork, instead of using overhead bars, we use the "Sarga Silk" which is a fabric strap fastened below our massage table.  We use this for tensility & gravitational force. This is even slower and some would say deeper modality compared to Ashiatsu.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is an addition to the manual therapy done at Remedy Barefoot Massage Studio. It creates a suction effect that increases blood and lymphatic circulation, draws stagnation and relaxes muscles. Intended suction can range from light to heavy depending on skin type and where suction is being advocated.

**This is only included in Advanced and Expert bodywork sessions.
